Guys in Adobe section are all saying that you'll need i7-930 with 9-12GB Ram and powerful 1GB video card. Of course loads of hard drives in Raid mode (1+0 or 5).

Well, "need" is a bit strong of a term. Perhaps "want". I have a laptop with 6GB and an i7-720QM and it handles HDV and AVCHD just fine in Adobe.

Heck, my Q6600 quad-core desktop with 4GB is entirely usable with the same material.

Kiflom, just set your budget and buy the fastest machine you can. No sense drooling over a $6,000 workstation when you only have $2,000.

Oh yeah, and dollar-for-dollar, you'll get more value out of AMD. But I still gravitate toward Intel...

I'd like to ask a question related to this topic:

is there any hardware (i.e. video card) that allows to speed up rendering process? Or also helps CPU with real time preview of timeline?

Adobe has incorporated the CUDA technology that's available in most NVIDIA video cards into CS5. Not sure about anyone else.
