My goal for the fun shoot turned into "to submit something".
Was sick all week and have mostly been laying flat out all weekend. But I got out for 5-10 minutes on Saturday to film whatever living creatures I could find in the back yard. At least I got something on tape, and staying away from the dreadful shark tank.

Filming insects must be some of the most difficult tasks I have tried, resulting in jerky pans, too rough zooming... you name it, I got it. :) But it was fun trying something new.

Very nice Trond! I like the colors when the bees are on-screen. Did you know that at the bottom of the YouTube player there is a little soccer ball icon, and if you click it you get the sound of the Vuvuzela?
A great sound effect for the bee scenes!

Thanks Bill, maybe the vuvuzela would attract more bees?
That sound must be one of the most annoying sounds this year.
Could be interesting to make a new soundtrack with the vuvuzela. :)

Tronde,

same comment for you as i gave Geir, I love to see what people have in their yard!!!! when you had the bumble Bee I would have liked you to zero in on the ants on the plant to the right so I could see them closer!!!! the sparrow looks exactly like the ones in my back yard!!!

I am ready to see some more of your yard!!!

I have parts to a video I am working on which is the same concept, it is called Bugs in the Backyard!!

Very much enjoyed, wished I had more to watch!!

also you exposures and focus are pretty awesome. gl2 right??!!

He, he, maybe we could ask Meryem for a theme called - vuvuzela for uwolers!

Trond, a great piece from your backyard, would love to view some more close-ups though! Bumble bees are not easy to get nice footage of, I have tried. Found that best time is in early morning when they are a bit lazy and sleepy!

Dale,
Yes I used my friend Canon XM2 as always. I am really impressed with the colors this camera delivers.

Actually I did not notice the ants until I was editing the footage. So they were a cool bonus feature.
When filming I was about 1-2 meters away from the bumble bees, and zoomed to max tele. Going in closer seemed to make the bees fly to the next flower. Wish I had a tele extender. Could have been extremely useful here.

Per Johan,
As I mentioned to Dale, I was already at full zoom. And I agree, more close up would be better.
I'll keep the morning laziness in mind for next oportunity. Thanks! These bumble bees must have been on drugs or something, extremely quick turns and flying "everywhere".
