View Full Version : Cineform MOV conversion lossless?

Hi there,

I edit cineform AVI clips on my PC.

My colorist wants to color correct in Color on her Mac

Should I output my film as Cineform MOV with adobe media encoder? Is this lossless? Can she color correct this? Can I convert back into cineform AVI when she's done? (how do I do that? and is that lossless?)

Or should I ditch everything and just get a colorist that works with first light on the PC?

Thanks

Hello Jeff,

You can quite simply, rw-wrap the Cineform AVI file using HDLINK Convert tab then in the preferences choose Re-WRAP AVI TO MOV.

This will then create Quicktime MOV's which are loseless, which you can then hand over to your Colourist in Apple Colour. Not sure Apple Colour can import Cineform files.

But that's the way you could do this, once they have coloured the Cineform MOV files, you can bring them back and Re-WRAP again in HDLINK MOV to AVI usingthe same process as I explained at first for preparing the AVIS's to go into Cineform MOVs.

Hope this helps!
