I have bought VMS v10, but before that was using the trail version of VMS v9. I'm fairly certain that in VMS v9, I could BOTH a Video FX config tab for the timeline (track and clip) and a separate one for the Preview/Output Video FX.

In v10, all three share the same Video FX tab, and it's downright annoying when you're trying to experiment with a few different things. I'm also disappointed, I have written a few scopes for VMS and was looking forward to having them in both the Clip and Output at the same time to see the difference(s).

Can someone with VMS v9 confirm/deny this? Is there any option I'm not seeing to split those up? It's just unnecessarily limiting to force everything through one, there really should be three separate ones, or at least the option.

What do you think my chances are of finding out from Sony how to create a new tab/dock-able window of my own? =)

Look in the upper left corner of that window. See the vertical line of dots? Click on them and drag away from the docking area. It sounds like you have multiple windows docked together and don't want them docked that way.

=)

It isn't that, the very same window gets recycled for each of the 3 types of Video FX. Whereas in v9, I'm fairly sure I remember having Track/Clip FX in one window, and Output in a different one.

Anyone who has v9 could just drop an effect on a clip, then the preview window and tell me if you see two different Video FX tabs?

Post a snapshot showing your issue.

OK... Pro must be a bit different in this regard.

Here are snapshots of what's changing. The Video FX tab is placed beside the Trimmer tab, as you can see. And then as I select each Track, Media or Output FX, the very same tab simply changes tab and heading name.

I really seem to recall that VMS v9, the Track and Media simply changed tab/heading names (ie, only one at a time) but the Output was it's own tab. I'm trying to a) check my memory/sanity and b) see if there is some option to have the FXes show up on their own tabs.

I don't recall ever seeing FX's posted in different places using different windows. As far as I know, "FXs" - wherever they're applied - all use the same dialog window.
