I have a mac book pro with OS X 10.5.8

I want to upgrade to CS5. I think I can boot the 10.5.8 to 64 bit.

Should I upgrade to Snow Leopard?

No opinion. Just the knowledge that it seems to be working fine on 10.6.4. No specific knowledge on that exact upgrade path. The real issue will be whether all your workflow tools work better under one or the other. (ie. Cineform, Magic Bullet, etc).

BTW - I mean that CS5.02 is running for me on 10.6.3 and 10.6.4. 10.6.3 on MBP, 10.6.4 on MacPro.

Hi Ed,

As anyone using their computer as a production tool, the question isn't just about CS5 but everything else you are running.

I have desktop running OS 10.5.8 and a laptop running 10.6.4. In general I am happier with 10.5.x than 10.6.x. I run a ton of audio apps/plugins, print related stuff, a hardware RAID and video apps so I am concerned about a lot of software running smoothly. So far I haven't run into any showstoppers with 10.6 except for the app launcher Quicksilver (which is now fixed with a separate version for Snow Leopard).

When it comes to production machines I never do upgrades, I do clean installs. Huge time investment but things get tested and I don't get a production machine that gets inadvertently hobbled by an OS upgrade to a machine that has been majorly modified over time.

CS5 would have been tested on both 10.5.x and 10.6.x. There haven't been any big screaming panics about it on forums. I would check the Adobe and Apple forums for true grit issues to be revealed.

Thanks all, if 10.5 works, I see no need to upgrade.
