Greetings...

I filmed a reception recently, in where the cake table was decked out with sparklers, ice sculptures, choclate fountains etc.....
The owner of the hall requested that footage shot from the event could be given to him for playback on his iPad for future bookings..
Since i'm not a gadget guy, i was wondering what export settings people recommend for this toy..I'm guessing a Quicktime file with either a Sorensen, or H.264 codec...

Do these devices playback HD material well??

The original footage was shot HDV at 30F, and i would prefer to hand over something in HD over SD...

Any help would be appreciated.

Therefore, i'm going to give the .H264 format a try, and play around with the bitrates...

If you are using CS5, AME has an export setting for h.264- Apple TV 720p.
This will work perfectly on iPad as well.
These Apple devices can be finicky about the details of the settings. Probably the most bulletproof way to go is to use the preset.
Also, there is no direct way to get the video into the iPad (as you would on a laptop, etc.).
The client will need to transfer the file to his desktop computer, import it into his iTunes library, then synch the iPad with the iTunes library copy of the movie.
It will display very, very nicely on the iPad :)
