When I shoot my Canon XL H1 shoulder mounted, my headphones scrape against the side of the camera, creating noise that ruins the sound track.

Does anyone know of any slim over the ear headphones?

What cans are you currently using?

Bob,
You may wish to consider something like the Beyerdynamic DT 102 - Circumaural Closed-Back Single Sided Studio Headphone as this covers only one ear. I used the model with the mic when I was doing handheld camera work.

How about a pair of in-ear monitors such as those from Shure, Etymotics, or Ultimate Ears?

I think in-ears would be the way to go.

I use Shure E5s which I normally use when I play out on stage... they double as my XL1/GL1 monitoring system and do a fantastic job of isolating me from ambient noise to make sure the audio is coming through as expected.
