Thank you Jeremy for the info. That is a great way for all EX users. BTW the price is only$99. I would guess that you missed read the $ for an 8 ;-)

Sorry about the 899 bucks. It's 99 indeed.
I am trying the plugin Cinemon MP4 and I am very happy.
So much time and space saved !
One counterside is that I don't have this XDCAM import folder that I could keep as an archive with my other post production files. Now, it's a choice to make.

I just don't understand why Apple has not included this in FCS yet.

Maybe it will be in the next Final Cut Pro coming with Lion.

I tried it out for a bit, worked as described. Have to test in a real work environment though, to bend it to the limits. I'll keep you posted.

I hate working in Final Cut Studio. I'm not spending any more money than I have already wasted on it.

Anybody want to buy my copy?

Wow, that's deep anger Charles, how did fcp harm you..?

It's not anger. It's just a fact. Compared to other NLEs I've used (Avid, Mac and PC Premiere, Sony Vegas, Edius), I do not enjoy working with Final Cut Pro. If it weren't for one client I have who insists I use it because someone told him "it's the industry standard," I wouldn't even have it on my computer... and I'm a Mac Guy, even for the stuff I do in (shudder) Windows.

Some people like it. I don't. But that one client does a lot of business with me, and the client is always right.

I have to say, as an fcp user I see your point. I wrote a blogpost about it the other day: Is Premiere Pro outshining Final Cut Pro? | Vincent Rozenberg (http://www.vincentrozenberg.com/is-premiere-pro-outshining-final-cut-pro/)

About the plugin: it seems to me that if I open the mp4 files in QuickTime they're out of sync?

Just in playback I mean, not really out of sync. Anyone experiences that as well?

I downloaded the 60 day trial version and it works a treat , allowing me to import XD CAM files into FCP 6 and edit them on my PowerMac G5 , or indeed just to view them !

The proprietary Sony software requires OS 10.6 and an Intel processor so this is the only way I can ingest XD CAM footage just now .

Unfortunately , the Cinemon software seems only to be available to purchase in the USA just now , which is a pain . Hopefully it will become available globally soon .
