upgrading from 6.0.6 to fcp 7-is there a skinny version?

i'm upgrading my fcp edit system (finally) from 6.0.6 to 7.

the complete upgrade of the final cut studio suite went well on my mac pro.

(it took nearly 4 hrs and 45gigs to accomplish)

i now want to upgrade my macbook pro.

i do not need all the additional parts of the suite on the macbook pro.

i just want fcp7.

is there a skinny version that i can install on my laptop?

When you put the first install disk in your MBP, you can choose a "Custom" install, which components of the studio you want to install or don't want to install. You'll be looking for a button that says Custom somewhere, I can't remember here but if you pay attention you will see it.

i imagine (hope), the "custom" button will allow me to install just fcp 7 and none of the add-ons?

By add ons, if you mean Motion, Color, DVDSP, etc, yes. You can just choose to install FCP.

You are allowed ONE laptop install and ONE desktop install, now if you had two laptops and two desktops then im sure you could do either combination.

You are allowed ONE laptop install and ONE desktop install, now if you had two laptops and two desktops then im sure you could do either combination.1 laptop & 1 desktop is what Apple licence but you still cannot use both at the same time if both Macs are connected to the same network. FCP checks when it starts up & if it finds another copy on the LAN using the same licence key then it refuses to continue.
