So I have the OK to get a new computer for work. I will be purchasing a Pro (tower).

It will need to accommodate my current Kona LHe card, hopefully have SCCI interface for my 9 year old Medar RAID drive, SATA for my Drobo, horsepower for full HD from my P2 HXP-500, and the ability to run all my current software, FCP 6 and the rest of that studio version, (up grade from 5), QuicktimePro, and Microsoft office 2008.

That's all I can think of now.

Really?
I thought this would be a fun exercise in compiling a wish list Mac dream machine. 'Cause that's what I'll be able to put together.

Well, if you want others to do the work for you at least you needed to outline a budget!!! Just how much of a dream machine will your budget stretch too then?

Oh, maybe that's the problem. No I am not fishing for anybody to do my work for me. Sorry it was taken that way.

So what's the budget then? You can tick every option imaginable on the Apple Store and see the $$$$$ mount up...but realistically how much? Maybe if people know as much as possible about your workflow, types of projects (e.g. lots of multicam, motion graphics etc. needed?) then they'll help. I'm no Apple guru but there are people on here that can help - but only if you help them by offering some basic facts to get started and the most important one is the target price (...which we still don't know).

OK,
say $6,000 dollars for the tower.
Very little effects rendering and creating. (but that could change in the near future)
Projects ranging from 3 minutes to one hour.
Shooting HD 720P 60 using Panasonic HPX-500
70% of projects single cam capturing.
Terminal use of videos are local, national broadcast and webcast.

Always buy the fastest computer with the most RAM and hard drive space your budget will allow.
