I don’t know if it is policy to delay posting rights after joining DVinfo, but it has meant I have had an enjoyable week or so trawling through the myriad of threads and info on this site – not that I feel any the wiser. I work as a stills photographer, and even give workshops for aspects of stills photography and post production at our National Photographic Society Conventions (PSNZ), but video is a whole new learning curve, and a pretty steep one at that.

Anyway, I live at the top of New Zealand’s South Island in Marlborough. (I’ve noticed there seem to be a lot of Kiwis on this forum), and have made shamefully little use of a Sony HC1 that I’ve owned for several years. I am now trying to get more serious about video using a Canon 1DMK4, but find it awkward after the Sony. One problem is that I have a Manfrotto LANC controller for the camcorder, and it feels like a giant step backwards using the DSLR, but the image quality is noticeably better so I am persevering. I assume there is nothing like a LANC controller for Canon DSLR bodies?

I have Premier Pro CS3 installed, and have been working my way through Adobe’s Classroom in a Book for PP CS2, and the Lynda.com PP CS3 Essential Training tutorials, but it seems to me that hands on practice is the way to learn.

BTW I used to live in the UK, and belonged to the Westcliff Film & Video Club quite a few years ago, and worked on two productions with the team. Any members here?
