I was wondering if anyone has worked with the T2i in the (very) cold? Or really, any DSLR for that matter. I'm sure there are many members here that are enjoying very nice temperatures (jealous!), but this morning, we were resting at about 8F, with a wind chill of about -20F. I'm wondering if anyone has worked in these kinds of conditions for extended periods of time (2-3+ hours) with DSLRs, and if there are any risks associated with long term exposure to the cold with these cameras?

Also, I'm working with the Canon EF 50mm F1.4. Same question.

I spent all day shoot in the 20's F a few weeks ago.

the cameras should be ok, as long as you don't bring a cold camera into a warm place without putting it into a plastic bag or case. it will get covered with frost / condensation.

the only real danger is super cold conditions which may cause components to fracture solder joints from going from extreme cold ( contracting ) to warm ( expanding ). hard to say if canon cameras may suffer from this as some older cameras have. other then that, not really. condensation is the big enemy.

keeping yourself warm is even more important !
