Hello there
Could someone please post come raw clips from the camera for me to play with in an edit to see how they hold up. Would be much appreciated. Can't seem to find anywhere to download any which is unusual.
Thanks! Sparky

A lot will depend on how the original video was shot. Many people are still figuring out the optimal shooting settings for this camera.

As far as editing goes, everything will depend on your NLE. Final Cut Pro has had some issues with properly importing AVCHD video, so you have to be careful to retain everything that is in the original footage.

Some NLEs like Sony Vegas Pro 10 or Premiere CS-5 are able to work with the native files the camera produces, and can bring them in to a 32-bit color-space while editing, so everything that was in the original footage is retained.

If you are going to do a lot of color or compositing work, you might want to transcode the footage to a 10-bit 4:2:2 format like ProRes or Cineform. ( the cheapest way to buy the Cineform CODEC is with their NEO SCENE product which can be bought from the VideoGuys.com website for $100 )

Hi

Can I just confirm that you can bring the clips straight into Sony Vegas and start to edit them without 'unwraping' them etc. This would be ideal for my work flow!

Thanks, Sparky

Yes with Sony Vegas Pro 9 or 10. Cheapest way to buy Sony Vegas Pro 10 is to buy it with a 12x Pioneer Blu-ray burner for $500 from Videoguys.com 800 323-2325 we are the video editing and production experts (http://www.videoguys.com)
