I appreciate this has been one heck of a long haul, but I hope it's worth it to all the people who will glean something useful from it.

DVinfo members and lurkers:

Having read the review, you can probably imagine the sheer volume of data that has been amassed across these four systems, not least because of the new "Stress Test" section, which was a gigantic undertaking in it's own right.

I have been aware that in the process of gathering and collating this information, it has been extremely easy to stop seeing the wood for the trees, requiring a number of "Whoa, step back, take a breath and look at the big picture" moments.

For that reason I have been holding off finalising the Manfrotto review untill I had seen the Libec (my first non - Vinten system) go "live".

What is pretty obvious to me having seen it "live", is that I am writing & reading it in light of my experience and knowledge of the other three systems IN PARALELL with this review, and thus not from the same standpoint as practically any other reader.

The bottom line is that about the only time these reviews can be taken in proper context is when all the others are also "live" and so is the resultant "shootout", the database and the "how and why" of the "stress tests", all of which are roaming nonchalantly around my brain as I type this.

Having now satisfied myself that I can, with confidence, bang the rest of this stuff out without introducing any bias, it won't be too far behind (though referring to it as "banging it out" possibly doesn't quite do the process justice!).

Guess I'd better get to writing then.

First howler discovered already (how these get through the checks I have here is a mystery).

The Libec case is actually an RC - 30, not a SP - 2B.

Where that mythical beast came from is anyones guess.

Article now corrected, thanks. SP-2B is the ground spreader.

I have had my RS250 since last summer and I am really happy with it as I do not have it as Chris says with the spreader arms full in for max height. It is a big improvement over my Manfrotto 306 head and heavy 531 tripod. I wondered about getting the next model up to get the "off" setting for drag too but the legs are the same. I am happy with my use of the Libec.
