Any early adopters tried editing on the iPad2 and iMovie yet?

How is it?

Have you tried editing MOV files from the Canon DSLR's?

Since no one else has tried it - the answer is "not there yet". HD support on the Ipad2 is limited, so the iMovie support is also limited.

720p playback is fantastic tho :)

More like full 2K support, the iPad 2 HD is going to have crazy high resolution.

We had a client who ran a sci-tech day camp for kids a couple of weeks ago where they went on field trips to learn about the environment and then used iMovie on the iPad2 to shoot and edit 30-second PSA spots.

One thing I found very annoying is the transfer capabilities (or lack thereof) of the iPad with other Apple products. When I plugged the iPads into the Mac Pro it didn't recognize a hard drive. When I connected the iPads to the wifi network it didn't see any new computers.

Currently, the only way you can transfer iMovie files from the iPad to another Mac is to export your movies to iTunes and sync. Some applications aren't designed to export to iTunes and so there's no way to transfer those files off unless you want to spend $20-30 per iPad for a third party transfer program. Conversely, if you plug the iPad into a pc it shows up as a camera and you can offload your iMovie files from the default save location (Camera Roll). This is a significant oversight by Apple imho. Granted I'm using the most current update of Snow Leopard and not Lion, so maybe they've tweaked some of these communication faults-- but I'm not holding my breath.

For what it's worth the images looked fantastic...

Hey Christopher,
You can use Iphoto to download the movies and photos shot on an Ipad and then they can be used in other edit programs.
