My Z1 tape mechanism has been acting up. I have been getting error code C:31:22 with greater frequency. Seems like the mechanism that turns or tensions the tape is wearing out. I'm looking for a less expensive place to send it for repair other than Sony. Anyone recommend one is Sony the best place to go?

I've had several tape mechanism issues with my Z1 and send it to a local shop in Dedham, MA. I don't know if they handle mailing equipment to them, but I would guess they would. Very reliable, safe, and experts in Sony repair. Here's their website:

They replaced the entire tape mechanism and has worked great. Btw, they're located in Florida.
