-R like a ROM? I'm not sure I follow. As for bit rate this can easily be altered in many apps. Which ones are your using to author or edit? I.E. Premier, Vegas, FCP, Avid, Encore, DVDIT, DVD Arcitect 3? How long is your project running time? You should shoot for between 5,000 and 8,000 bit rate. However it may be lower if you have little action i.e. talking head or if you are running at two hours.

The BitSetting is a field found on a DVD that identifies what type of formatting it uses (DVD-ROM, DVD+R, etc). Most of the time it doesn't matter, but some older DVD players balk when they read the disk as a DVD+R/W, and refuse to play it. However, if the BitSetting is changed to read DVD-ROM, then they will play the DVD+R/W just fine. (For more information see http://www.videohelp.com/glossary?B#BitSetting.)

If you have a BenQ, you change a setting in QSuite, and your burning application will take note.
