Not sure if this is the correct forum, so if it's not, I apologize.

I'm looking for some advice/guidance/suggestions on a problem I'm currently trying to solve.

What I need to accomplish is this:

I need to be able to walk around a room with a wireless device (assume a tablet pc) and control video/presentation that is being displayed on an existing projector in the room.

If anyone has experience dealing with this and can offer any advice that would be wonderful.

Thanks in advance,

Karl

Are you sure you need a PC//tablet? if you're presenting from a PC to a hardwired projector, you should be able to use a simple wireless remote to advance your presentation

Thanks for the fast response Wayne.

Yes, we will be controlling applications as well. I should've added that in my original post. Sorry for the confusion.

I have found this: Amazon.com: Warpia Wireless USB Audio and Video PC to TV/Projector Display Converter Kit (HDMI + VGA): Electronics

Looks like it might work. Definitely on the affordable side of things. However, if there's something that is a lot better I'd like to be aware of that.

Thanks again!

Karl

OK...
Do you have an iphone/ipad? or any smartphone for that matter. Logmein Ignition is a VERY handy little application that I use on my iphone and/or ipad all the time.
Effectively, it allows you to establish a complete remote connection/full control of your destop from your phone.
Once you've logged in, it lets you manipulate anything on your PC, open, close, use whatever program you have on your computer remotely. I use it on the ipad all the time...it's a bit more useful with the bigger screen. Not very expensive ( seems to me it was around $29 on the App store)
It's not the only remote VNC client available by any means, but it works really well.
The item you found on Amazon should work fine as well...I guess my only concern would be if this is a "one off" gig, you may not have a lot of use for it afterwards. Something like a remote VNC client is useful to me almost daily, of course your mileage may vary

Thanks again Wayne. I really appreciate you taking the time and passing along the information.

Sounds like for this first iteration we are probably going to go with the amazon product. We are going to test it with a laptop before we invest into a tablet pc/ipad. This will be something we use quite a lot.

Thanks :)
