First Look: Tom Hardy As Bane From ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ | /Film (http://www.slashfilm.com/first-look-tom-hardy-as-bane-from-the-dark-knight-rises/)

How cool is that? The Dark Knight Rises (http://www.thedarkknightrises.com) posted up audio chants (The Fire Rises?) and someone grabbed the audio, used Soundtrack Pro (unless I'm dead wrong, but that's what I noticed on the link above) and revealed a hashtag of "#thefirerises" which fans could help reveal the first image of Tom Hardy as Bane. All of our Facebook and Twitter profile images helped shape the look of Bane!

Similar to the original Joker campaign of 2007, which had people type in coordinates to reveal another pixel of a "screwed up" Harvey Dent campaign site, and then debuted the grotesque visage of the Joker in The Dark Knight. (Read here: Maybe A First Look At Joker From The Dark Knight? | Screen Rant (http://screenrant.com/maybe-a-first-look-at-joker-from-the-dark-knight-vic-722/)) In fact, four years to the day, pretty much.

And here's a big picture of Bane: http://cdn.screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/Tom-Hardy-Bane-Dark-Knight-Rises1.jpg

And here's a direct link to the image of Soundtrack Pro with the hashtag "#thefirerises" visible.

Great marketing and very inventive!

Also a bit of nuts that fans go so far and that the people in charge of marketing expected that and went with it.

The Dark Knight's viral campaign was really incredible:

And it looks like The Dark Knight Rises will be just as much fun!

Can't this be done in Audition, Goldwave and Audacity too? Unless the file format can't be read by those two.

This reminds me of the Portal ARG where people had to decode Slow Scan TV from files in the game to get hints about the next installment: http://half-life2.nl/index.php/SSTV_Pictures

I do believe it was just an MP3 or WMV file. I guess the person who cracked it had Soundtrack Pro ready to go.
