This is probably one of those fundamentally dumb questions but is there a way to place a mark on a seperate audio and video track for the purpose of syncing them up? I use to be able to do this in Liquid and it was great for me. I know you can place a marker on the timeline in vegas but that is not what I need. I need the mark actually on the audio and video clip.

Add the markers in the TRIMMER and then align those markers on the TIMELINE.

Snap offset was designed for such tasks.

From the help file:
"Each event has a snap offset flag that you can move along the event's length to fine-tune where snapping will occur. To adjust the flag, drag the white triangle in the lower-left corner of the event. A ToolTip displays the amount of offset."

After a decade of using Vegas I finally learned how to put regions on clips rather than on the timeline, so that they move with the event! I don't recall any occasion where I have ever used the trimmer but I can see it's going to be a frequently used tool from now on. Thank you Edward!

Glad I could help, Ian. I almost never use the trimmer. But it does have a few uses and for those few times I need it, I use it. For normal cutting, I just drop everything on the timeline and cut away.

If you have markers/regions on the clip and you want to move them to the timeline too, you can run the "Promote Markers" script.
