I have two corrupted files - when I try viewing it in QT i get "this is not a movie file".

Both files are the last files of the day on a docu shoot with GY-HD251- before powering the camera off - hard-disk on auto-off..

On the escond night the battery crashed at the end the documentary shoot.

Is there any known way to recover this file which is about 1.7 Gb ?

Thanks

#1 TRY REPAIR CLIP
--This may or may not work, but it's designed to re-wrap the end of a damaged file.
--I have had this work for me in the past when I lost power during a shoot.

#2 PLAYOUT CLIP BACK TO CAMERA
--Put camera in VCR mode and HIT REC
--Press PLAY on DR-HD100
--RECORD to TAPE the contents from the DR-HD100
--Once recorded to tape, PLAY THE TAPE
--PRESS RECORD on the DR-HD100 and record the contents of the tape.

Hope one or the other works for you.

Method #2 worked - You saved my day.

btw -my files are HDV, according to the manual, #1 works only for DV, and the Focus customer support confirms this indirectly when I enquired today :
« Hello,

If the clips are playing back faultless, you could try to recapture the
video to your NLE program used DR-HD100 in playback mode.
I am sorry but there is nothing we could do more.

Best Regards »

So they are essentially suggesting your method #1.

many thanks, Jonas

Having much trouble transferring back from tape to DR-HD100. These are long clips, like 7 or 9 minutes (but below the FAT32 limit). Inevitably, the unit either stops recording after 6-7 minutes, or goes to the end but shuts off abruptly when I press the stop button , generating corrupted files.
