Hi all,

I just thought I would let you know I have found a bug in Magic Bullet Looks 2.0. It's been reported to Red Giant Support and they have recreated it. A fix is on the way.

Issue:

Running MBLs 2.0 on a single monitor in Premiere Pro CS5.0, the preview window in the MBLs editor was zoomed, cropped and dark. The aspect ratio was incorrect too.

The problem seems to be with HDV 1080i timelines and footage. I shot on a Sony Z5E and FX1.

The edit box is the following spec:

Intel Core i7 950
12 Gb DDR3 XMS3 Corsair RAM
Asus P2B mainboard
nVidia GTX470 graphics card (MPE enabled)

Suggestions:

- Install nVidia driver from June 20th, ver. 275.50
- Roll back to nVidia driver ver. 275.33 from June 1st

Workaround (Red Giant, not my workaround):

We do have a work around for this issue, it may not be the best workflow for you but this does remove the cropping.

1) Open Premiere Pro
2) Apply footage to a Sequence
3) Right Click on the footage and select: Modify>Interpret Footage>Field Order
4) Change the Field Order to: 'Conform Fields (Progressive Scan)'
5) Apply/Check Looks, there should be no cropping

If you do decide to use this work around I highly suggest exporting a small clip of footage before doing the final export for the whole project just to be sure there's nothing wrong with the export.

NOTE: I have not tried this workaround myself. I'm not responsible for ruining your projects!!!

Further response from Red Giant Support:

We have determined this to be a bug within Looks rather than Adobe.

I completely understand about the work around. Were I in your shoes I would do the same. You can never be too careful when deadlines are involved.

We are currently working on a permanent fix for this issue. Unfortunately I cannot provide you with a date of when this update will be available, because if a new bug is discovered by QA, for example, then this would delay a release.

Be assured, once we have an update that is able to be downloaded, we will inform you.

---------------------

The case number on the Red Giant Support system is 19168 if you wish to refer to it. I hope the above information is of use to you all. I'll probably update this thread as and when RG Support come back to me with news of a fix.

Thanks to @5tu and Red Giant Support. Very helpful. :-)

Kind regards,

Andrew

I filed a bugreport for CS5.5.
Same reply from RG.
Just have to wait.

Colorista II also has a bug in CS5.5. No preview in the keyer dialog.
Have to wait for a fix here also

I also filed a report for CS5.5.
My footage was 1080i AVCHD rather than HDV.
Received the same answer as everyone else.
Will wait & see...
