Would love any real feedback on the "quality" of light from the Arrilite 750 Plus, especially in spot mode. Fresnels typically have a beautiful quality hard light compared to an open face, and the 750 is being sold as having the same due to the new reflector.

I live remotely, power is an issue, and I'd love to just stock up on one kind of bulb. So, if the 750's look as nice as a fresnel, with double the output as advertised, I'd give them a go.

If not, I'll get a set of 650's.

I have two and I usually have to scrim them down with a double scrim and sometimes diffusion paper ontop of that - the 750 is very bright. I haven't used a Fresnel before so I couldn't compare the light quality. It's important to buy good quality bulbs like Osram! The first bulbs I bought (some weird brand) only lasted one event and blew out tripping the power creating some major problems however the Osram bulbs are doing well, except for losing a lot of money on my first set of bulbs overall I'm extremely happy with the Arrilite 750 + the new design is great and comes with a speed ring so you can easily add a soft box to the lights. Also keep in mind that the HPL bulbs aren't as common as the DXX bulbs used in most Redheads you might run into trouble finding bulbs with your remote location.

Nicholas, thanks for the heads-up on the bulbs. Did you get your bulbs in South Africa? I'm in Rwanda right now, with somewhat frequent travel to Jo'burg...

Tom took me a few calls to track them down but there are a few places in Midrand (JHB) selling the HPL bulbs. I bought mine from thelamphouse | Home (http://www.thelamphouse.co.za).
