Happy Birthday to me. Wouldn't you know it, the cards I got in the mail came with some cash and now I'm in the market to turn that into a field monitor. I'm interested in spending between $200-$300 on one, and would love your opinion. I wish I had the cash for a SmallHD (got to work with one of those this weekend, so already I'm totally spoiled). Anyway:

I've been looking at the Lilliput 7" 668GL monitor, but only because I've seen it's name here a few times, and thought it might be something to look into. I'll be using 5Ds / 550Ds on some shoots and need something that can go from miniHDMI to HDMI.

Any suggestions are wonderful.

How about the Smallhd dp4? Or the zacuto EVF. The focus peaking is great.

I've been using the Marshall V-LCD50-HDMI for a few months now and it's really improved my shooting. I liked it so much, I bought a second one for my B-camera! 864x480, HDMI input, and powers off 4 AA batteries for about 2 hours. Pretty solid for how lightweight it is too.

It's a little more at $499, but maybe you could find a used one for a better price. Happy Birthday!
