Hi,

Are there any issues that may occur if I were to purchase a 50mm 1.4 Minolta + a
Minolta MD MC Lens to Canon EF EOS Mount Adapter Ring to use with my 600D?

For around £70-80 I could get 1.4 plus a real smooth focus ring instead of paying nearly 3 times for the canon. Yes the Canon has auto focus but I will be using the lens for video only.

Forget MD lenses. Adapter needs a glass element = junk image.

M42, Pentax K, Olympus OM and others work.

Clue: for £60 you can get a Pentax Takumar SMC 50mm f/1.4.

James, what do you think of the Pentax Takumar SMC 50mm f/1.4?

I'm looking to replace my Canon 50mm 1.8 with something a little faster and with better build quality.

A good choice for the money, but you need to be aware of a couple of things. You need to de-yellow it, and you need to find one fungus free. For most people, it's not worth the hassle.

If you want to know more, just ask. It is a dream to handle, and a brilliant lens for video work.
