A smallish internal SSD and external Thunderbolt array might be the optimal low cost setup. Same with the Mac Air and Macbook Pro. I'm curious if there's a Thunderbolt to e-sata adapter yet. If only you could put a high-end video card in the thing.... The thought is just intriguing though............ Heath McKnight November 16th, 2011, 06:54 PM I am on a base model (entry) 2011 Mac Mini running both FCP X and FCP 7, plus Photoshop CS5.1, Premiere Pro CS5.5 and other apps. I say this because I didn't think it could handle it, but the Mac mini just roars along. I have 8GB of RAM in it, too. I can't open DaVinci Resolve Lite with the Intel 3000 graphics. Heath Eric Emerick November 18th, 2011, 04:47 PM I have the new server version of the Mac Mini and it works well for me as an emergency/back-up station, 8GB RAM as well. Waiting patiently to pounce on the mythical new MacPro (replacing my '08 MacPro) whatever form it takes. God help me if Apple takes away "the beast" (my name for a tricked out MacPro, I prefer it over "the truck"). |
