Anyone know if Vegas can support a command line interface. I want to use my render farm with Vegas but I don't know if it can handle it. If it can, are there any doc's on it?

there USED to be a 'built-in' network render, but for reasons best known to scs it was dropped.

with fast cpu's, gpu's, etc., i presume they thought it superfluous.

Yes, that's a shame. Now that I have two fast pcs, fast ethernet etc I had wanted to try it out for real (only did a few tests some years ago). When was it dropped? This version?

don't remember exactly (7?), but i tried it vs my reasonably powered pc at the time and found it quicker to just let the pc get on with it and use the other for general use while my main pc was rendering.

i don't think given the power of i7's and such that network rendering would make much of a difference really...

Jack, the short answer is YES. But in order for it to do anything you would need the command line to automatically start a script (which can be done) that can then do whatever processing you need done. The script can even shut down Vegas when finished.

Thanks Guys, I spoke with Sony, hoping to get some info. or doc's regarding this. They said yes it can be done and No we don't have any Doc's. So I guess it means some more research. Any Idea's where to start?

You can start Vegas and have it automatically run a script using a batch file containing something similar to:

"c:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas 11.0\vegas110.exe" -SCRIPT:"c:\MyScript.cs"
