I have a PD170 with a spent memory battery. I would like to know if there is a known Atlanta GA area shop that can solder me a new one in.

There must be a large camera shop in the area that is Sony Certified isn't there? May want to look on the Sony site for repair centers.

Couple ideas to explore if you don't get a direct answer here:
1) A/V Rental Houses: Look for a audio/video rental house that rents pro video gear. Must be one in Atalanta. Call them up and find out who does A/V equipment repairs/maintenance for them. Often these places will have their own repair tech and even do outside repair work. But they should at least be able to direct you to a local shop. If you can't find who rents video gear, call up the local music store. Often bands will rent video gear and pro-level music stores know who rents pro video gear.

2) TV Stations: Call and talk to the equpment manager of your local TV station (heck you have cable TV stations based in Atlanta). They either do their own equipment repairs or take it to a local shop. TV stations have all kinds of tape decks and older cams so they have to deal with this from time to time.

3) VCR Repair Centers: Not many of these left, but if you can find one, they should be able to do it. I'd rather send my cam to numbers 1-2 above though.

Give K&M Electronics, Inc. (http://www.kmelectronics.com/) over in Loganville a call. If they can't do it, they will know someone who can.
