Hey guys:

Just a quick question, I recently received the Azden Sgm-2x for my nx5u, as a X-mas gift.
I'm not too familar with this brand as oppose to the Rode, Audio Techna, Seinnhausen, etc.
and curious for those who are what you're thoughts are in terms of performance, and durability?

The one plus is that I can use it as either omni directional or super cartoid, with the 2 barrels that come with this model, and
a shock mt holder that can act as a boom mic...

Thanks!

Robert

Azden is usually looked down upon by the more professional audio people. It is usually considered cheap gear.

Having said that, I have two SGM-2Xs. I purchase them after reading this review:
Low Cost Shotgun Microphone Comparison (http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/review_shotgun_mics.html)

I agree with what the conclusions were. They are good bang for the buck in that you get dual capsules and they are built good enough. The sound is OK, just as they say.

I now use my AT-875R almost all the time and the Azdens only come out for times where I need their specific talents.

I need to revisit the sound of the Azdens as I have not used them for quite a while, but I would say get an AT-875R instead and have a light, cheaper, and just as versatile mic with better sound. That is if you are open to suggestions for other mics.

Thanks you for the information Les.
And just an FYI I learned a little while ago, my brother had checked out those same links
before he had suprised me with the new mic. :)
