There has been lots of talk about refunds or not, but this is not about that.

Just wondering if you have any kind of paperwork involved. We have a one-page Cancellation Agreement that basically states: I, "bride and groom", hereby cancel the videography services reserved for the event on "date" and dissolve any contract with "business name" I understand that my deposit made will be forfeited, and "business" is waived of any further obligations to me or my event.

I can't remember the exact wording right now, but that's the basic gist of it. Is that enough so that we're covered? Again, I understand we're not lawyers here, but just want to see if other people do it the same way.

It needs to be called a retainer or booking fee, not a deposit :)

Yep, I understand that now after reading a lot of posts. We've recently made that change to our contract (and eventually to our cancellation agreement). Thanks Aaron!
