keep getting the message
" unable to locate firmware remove the battery and try again "

suggestions? My camera has ver. 1.0 ( firmware it came with)

Thanks for any help

How big are the cards you're using.. I know when I was installing magic lantern on my t3i I couldn't use my 32gb card or 64gb card.....

On the other hand, I had no problem with 32 gig cards.

You may be missing a step somewhere. Are you verifying the size of the extracted firmware file with the number given on Canon's website?

Print out the instructions and try again with the printed instructions in front of you. As you accomplish each step put a checkmark by that item on the printed instructions, do each step exactly as stated.

Be sure the card is freshly formatted in your camera, this will create the usual folders the camera needs in the "root" folder (or top folder) of the card, pull that card out of the camera and insert it in the reader on your computer. Copy the extracted (and size verified) firmware file onto that card, should wind up "alongside" the folders the camera created, then put the card back in the camera slot and proceed.

Your 16GB card should work just fine, I used to use an 8GB because that was what I had.

Good luck

Thanks Bruce

I will try again. I think the issue is the folder placement . I do know the file size is 11 meg give or take. If it doesnt work tonight Im thining of getting a new card and trying. It is a good excuse for more cards
