I know this is a primarily a video message board but I've taken some stills along with my video and when I connect my card to my computer I'm unable to view the RAW images without having to open photoshop CS5 or Lightroom 4.1. I'm sure there's some kind of download I just haven't heard about? I'm working on a MAC BOOK PRO with Lion.

thanks

Adobe Bridge with the Camera RAW plug-in.

I downloaded the RAW plug-in yesterday. That allowed me to open it up in CS5. I want to just be able to open a photo once I place it in a folder on my harddrive.

Refer to the software CD that came with the camera and install the Canon DPP application -- Digital Photo Professional. It's a browser that you can use to view the raw .CR2 files (and it does a whole lot more, too)... a bit faster than CS5 for minor image corrections or image browsing.

The Canon EOS Utility, Zoom Browser EX, and DPP are nice free additions with Canon cameras and very useful.

As Greg mentioned, LR4 now also supports the Mk3 Raw files in Lightroom 4. The Adobe download is here:

Canon posted today that the current version of DPP that comes with the 5diii does not work with the cameras RAW files.

A fix is coming.

The new DPP update will not be released until mid-April.

I've already done several photo shoots and the Photoshop plugin works fine, just a pain cause I use Aperture which doesn't have support yet.
LR4 is on order!

I must say the camera is killer in still mode!
Done a few fun shoots video-wise, even a greenscreen test and it worked very well.
Client shoot in video mode is next week!

No need for any of that, my mac had a RAW update tonight as i'm sure everyones mac's do. I can now just press the spacebar and view a photo that's stored in a folder. GO TIME!!
