It looks like Apple may have released the final version of QuickTime 7 for Windows at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html. If you don't want iTunes bundled with it try the QuickTime 7 standalone installer: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html.

Thanks much -- will check it out. Also, we look forward to user reports, especially whether or not it plays nicely with editing applications like PPro and AE6.5.

Installed QT7 Player for Windows (v7.02) and tried out quick renders of AVI short files to a laptop with Premiere 6.5 and two desktop computers that have Abode Video Collection 2.5 (PPro 1.5.1 and AE 6.5.1).

On the laptop with Premiere 6.5, Premiere would appeared to render out 30p AVI source files to QT using the Planar RGB codec, but NOT the h.264...got an error message each time I tried it. No problems with rendering to WMV or AVIs.

Using both PPRO and AE on the two desktops, had no problems rendering out 24pA AVI source files to WMV, AVI, or QT (including up-rez using h.264 at 1080/24p). Incidentally, even at that much uprez, the XL2 pictures looked pretty decent...not that I don't still lust after an HD camera. But I digress.

These "tests" are rather limited, but so far it looks good. Apparently the incompatibilities with AE have been fixed since the Release Candidates. Any one else who has installed QT7 or QT7 Pro on a PC, please let us know of any software problems here.
