I just received the HD100 for the presentation I'm doing this Saturday Sept. 10, 2005:

I'm going to be doing tests, including one against the FX1/Z1.

Good deal, 30P vs. 60i?

Jon Fordham is coming down to West Palm Beach this weekend, and we're doing tests. FX1 vs. Z1 vs. DVX100A vs. HD100 vs. HD10. Should be fun.

West Palm hmnn... I used to run my business out of Stuart for years and I know the area well. Looking forward to the shootout. If you have the gear, please keep the streams native with no transcode to an intermediate codec for you test.

looking forward to it...

Both Jon and I will be cutting stuff--we have Final Cut Pro 5. Native HD.

Thoughts:

I think it's interesting that the HD100 shoots:

720p30, 720p25 and 720p24 (and the 480 settings)

It also outputs to monitor as 30p, unless I can change that setting. BTW, the DVX100A outputs to monitor as 60i, but maintains the 24p look, whereas the HD100 looks like 30p on the monitor. In the viewfinder and on the LCD, it looks 24p. In 1/48 shutter, there is a flicker when pointing the camera at a 60i TV screen, like the DVX100A. Of course, the FX1 in CineFrame 24 mode does NOT have a flicker, because it's still 60i, technically.
