Is there a download trial- test run-period possible before purchasing?

Hello Carlton,

Yes. You can download FxFactory from this link: FxFactory - Download - Visual effects for FCP, Motion and AE (http://www.noiseindustries.com/fxfactory/download/)
Once you've installed FxFactory launch the host application (FCP, Motion or AE). You can find Stereo3D Toolbox in the Dashwood3D effects menu.

Both versions of Toolbox are available as a fully-functioning demo for an unlimited amount of time. There's just a watermark on the image. The watermark is removed if the product is registered.

Thank you Ryan,

Question:
I may be misunderstanding something here, but in the registering video, it states you must register first, then "buy now". Then "after purchase" you can use the trial with the watermark...
Does that mean you need to actually purchase, (i.e. pay for it) , and then get reimbursed if you decide not to keep it?

Thanks.
Dcb

Can you please link to the video you're referring to?

No, you do not need to purchase a license to use the trial version. Anyone can download FxFactory for free and have access to all of the plug-ins, filters and transitions included. Stereo3D Toolbox and Stereo3D Toolbox LE are two of them and we've made our trial fully functional with no time limit, but there is a watermark. This allows the user to evaluate the software for any amount of time - days, weeks, months or even years. If the user is satisfied they can purchase a license to remove the watermark. The plug-in will function exactly the same as before and they can continue working.

I downloaded and installed FX Factory as described, and 41 seconds into the video you posted above, it says you click and download from the selection of programs to try out, but after clicking on "toobox" download , it just sends me back to the original FxFactory page again... any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dcb

Stereo3D Toolbox and Stereo3D Toolbox LE are a part of the primary FxFactory download. You do not need to download or install Stereo3D Toolbox or Stereo3D Toolbox LE separately. Simply download FxFactory, install it, then launch one of the supported host applications (FCP 6-7 & X, Motion or After Effects). To access Stereo3D Toolbox or Stereo3D Toolbox LE go to the Video Filters or Effects tab in the host, locate the Dashwood3D submenu then select the desired plug-in.

The process being described at :41 in the Installation tutorial is for the download of additional plug-ins that are not included in the initial FxFactory download. Stereo3D Toolbox and Stereo3D Toolbox LE are already included.

If you're accessing Stereo3D Toolbox or Stereo3D Toolbox LE from the "Products" --> "Online Store" section of the Noise Industries website it will prompt you to simply download FxFactory.

If you have already downloaded and installed FxFactory, Stereo3D Toolbox and Stereo3D Toolbox LE are ready to be used.

In regards to the installation of FxFactory and Toolbox ignore :41 - :50 of the "Installing FxFactory for Final Cut Pro, Motion and After Effects" tutorial video as it does not apply to Toolbox.

Hi Ryan,
Thanks, and you wrote:

Unfortunately, The Dashwood plug-in (in fact all the FX Factory plug-ins) are grayed out.
I apologize, and its a bit embarrassing to have so much trouble installing this a single program, but perhaps this process is helping others out there.
Thanks,
Carlton

Carlton, did you try to click them anyway? Some of mine are grayed out but they come up.

Unfortunately, The Dashwood plug-in (in fact all the FX Factory plug-ins) are grayed out.

All filter plugins will be greyed out in Final Cut Pro 7 unless you have already selected a clip to apply them to.

.... I believe I had the clips in the timeline and a color filter or two applied already, so they in effect, were already selected...
In any event, apon restarting the computer this morning, and starting a completely new test, The plug ins are no longer greyed out.

All began fine this morning however, when appling the "identity LEFT or RIGHT DASHWOOD filters, the clips, "squeezed" into the Sequence, and were not the normal aspect ratio, yet the demo clips do not seem to do this in the demo tape (at 5:47)... What am I doing wrong ?
Thanks,
C-
Again , I apologize for the apparent inept capabilities as an end-user, and seemingly endless string of questions, but again, perhaps others have been running into the same problems.

Hello Carlton,

The Identify Left / Identify Right plug-ins are for precisely that - to identifying the left and right images. They squeeze the aspect ratio o each image by 50% and move the clips to their respective sides of the canvas - creating a side-by-side. If you watch very closely at 5:35 you will see the left image squeeze by 50% and shifted to the left edge of the canvas. Dashwood Stereo3D Toolbox v4.0 Walkthrough - YouTube (http://youtu.be/DKxitUMbWK4?hd=1&t=5m31s)

This is repeated at 5:47 but the Canvas isn't visible in the frame so you can't actually see the effect. But I assure you it squeezes the right clip by 50% and shifts it to the right edge of the Canvas.

At this point the left and right clips sit in the timeline as a side-by-side. This sequence must now be nested into a new sequence. Once nested you can apply Stereo3D Toolbox to the nested sequence. This is described at 5:54 in the tutorial. Dashwood Stereo3D Toolbox v4.0 Walkthrough - YouTube (http://youtu.be/DKxitUMbWK4?hd=1&t=5m54s)

The Identify plug-ins are programmed to know when you select Left or Right output from the Output Mode in Toolbox. They will only pass a single eye (depending on what has been selected) so you can output discreet, full resolution files for 3D BluRay, DCP or HDCAM SR.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns regarding the workflow.
