Hello:)
I would like to introduce You a new filmic Picture Style for Canon DSLRs called "MEGAFLAT".

Here is some video test : MEGAFLAT - new filmic Picture Style for Canon DSLRs on Vimeo

It's based on Arri Alexa and Red Scarlet high dynamic range images.
I think that MEGAFLAT for 8 bit video has very wide latitude for the shadows and highlights and better color gradation for use in the post production.
MEGAFLAT gives true "pastel" filmlook, more cinelike then Technicolor Cinestyle and other Flat Picture Styles I used so far(marvels cine, superflat, extraflat etc.)

BUT Remember ! It is NOT RAW video quality. In some cases footage may look a little noisy.

MEGAFLAT Picture Style download link : http://get4file.com/file/9ec0e02F13B0/megaflatv1.0.pf2

All shots using Canon 60D. No filters attached.
Lenses used : Sigma 30mm f 1.4, Tamron 18-270mm f 3.5-6.3, Sigma 8-16mm f 4.5-5.6
All shots stablized in post.
Lights : Outside shots - only natural lighting. Low light test shots(with SIGMA 30mm f 1.4)- only lamp you can see in the frame.
Color Grading:
RGB Curves and Mojo
Any questions? email me : tomsonos at poczta dot onet dot pl

Hey Evan!
Thanks
I was grading this footage with Adobe Premiere and RGB Curves (part of Color Correction) and Magic Bullet Mojo plugin from Red Giant.

Regards.

I wasn't comfortable with the download link - it behaved like potentially malicious html. Have you had previous good experience with this file sharing host? Perhaps you could zip up the pf2 and attach to a post in this thread?

Sorry, I'll change link soon.

FEH ! its like 5 bits of dynamic range. nothing gained, a LOT lost. once you expand that out to a normal range, even your "graded" clips are extremely flat you'll see massive banding and missing info on the waveform.

Tomasz,

I think the "flat" profile you used is too aggressive losing too much data in the process that your "graded" version seems unable to recover.

Do you have an LUT solution that can bring back the lost range?

My experience with the cinestyle is such that their LUT bring it back closer to the neutral setting as a basepoint for your grade.

I created a custom LUT-like curves for the cinestyle profile for use in EDIUS NLE which doesnt have LUT support and it still brings me back closer to the built in neutral profiles.
Discussed here: http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/grass-valley-canopus-nle/501219-cinestyle-lut-emulation-edius-yuv.html

Have you tested this on a grayscale chart and color chart to verify the "added" range you mentioned?

MEGAFLAT ONLY simulates HDR image and gives more "pastel" filmlook then other Flat Picture Styles. We have not analyzed it on the waveform, grayscale chart and color chart. During MEGAFLAT creation we based ONLY on ALEXA and RED hdr images.
