Hello.

I have just been given a production switcher (echolabs DV-7). Just wondering what other equipment I would need to start using this correctly. I understand inputs need to be timed and synced with the switcher. None of my inputs are genlockable. Would something like a blackmagic mini sync work for this? Or would that be for something else. If I use that would i still need each input to have a tbc to be genlockable?

Thanks
Mark

Mark,
If your sources are not gen-lockable, then the mini-sync won't work. The mini-sync provides a reference signal for the sources. Let's say you have 2 cameras and a DVD player as your sources. If they are not broadcast or industrial grade, and don't have reference video in, then you would need to have them go through a TBC before going in the switcher. You would then need to use the mini-sync to provide the same reference to the switcher and source TBCs. Then everything should be in sync and work with your switcher. Again this is just a general way to make your sources work.
