I am looking for some way to support long, heavy Canon lenses (200mm and 400 mm) on the FS700.

I don't want all that weight hanging on the front of the lens adapter.

Anyone know of a system to do this?

I just bought this shape lens support to use with my 15mm rods with the movcam rig.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am really looking for something more substantial.

I am looking for a support system where I can attach the foot of tripod mount ring that comes with each lens.

This one indicates it is specifically for dSLR lenses with tripod mounts.

I think what you were invisaging was this?

Support bridge for SLR lenses (http://www.mtfservices.com/home.html?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=88&category_id=2)

But it looks a little less macho than the one at B&H.

The tripod support under big lenses like the Canon 80-200/2.8 are there to attach to a tripod, where the lighter camera body attaches to the lens. You could do the same, but the FS700 has enough mass to lead me to suspect that approach is a 'swings and roundabouts' situation.

This is a more studly version of the previous item:

Other Accessories : Lens Support Bracket (http://www.genustech.tv/other-accessories/lens-support-bracket)

As you can see, it's designed to hold the lens further away from the joint, thus - through the magic of leverage - it can support more with less, though you do have to pick your contact point carefully.

A bigger issue is if you were putting a Broadcast ENG lens onto an FS100 - yes, it can be done:

B4 2/3" to Sony E mount adaptor package (http://www.mtfservices.com/home.html?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=112&category_id=2)

That's probably the studliest mount I've seen, but maybe OTT for a 80-200/2.8.

I tried Alister Chapman's FS100 ENG rig out. His 18x 8mm becomes a 24-432 (and that's 38-691mm in 35mm FF terms); buttery focus, excellent zoom range, but no image stabilisation and the Power Zoom needs to be fed off a V-lock D-Tap.

Hey Kirk - Curious how "high" that item can adjust to? I bought a similar piece from another manufacturer, but it doesn't actually reach my lenses when I am on my rods (I have a quick release plate on top of my base plate, so the camera is a little higher than it might normally be)

If you're after a support that will resist lateral movement as well as downward pressure you'll need somthing more along these lines:
Zacuto 1/4 20" Lens Support with 2.5" 15mm Z-1/4-LS2

This will actually connect to the tripod plate mounting block on the canon zooms

I am just making a prototype for this very purpose, I will post photos here soon. I should have anodized production kits ready by the ends of this week.

I have had a few special requests for this, so I am working on it.

Canon has a few different spacings on their "feet", so it has to be flexible.

I will post progress here soon.

I picked up one of these and it's been fine. I especially liked the 3/8" tapped hole on the base:
Long Telescope Lens Support Mount for HDDSLR 15mm Rod Rail System | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Long-Telescope-Lens-Support-Mount-for-HDDSLR-15mm-Rod-Rail-System-/250894455962?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a6a79949a)

Also, on a related note, can anybody here say if the lens mount assembly of the '700 looks to be any sturdier and less prone to flexing than the one on the FS100?
