Would an output from c300 - 8Bit 4:2:2 output to be recored onto a Ki Pro Mini bring about any differences to recorded quality better than the incamera 50mbps recording ?

Roger P. - Yes, by recording to a Ki Pro Mini, you'd be able to produce files at a higher bit rate when compared to the in-camera recording. Using either Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD, you could record at up to 220Mbps compared to the camera's on-board 50Mbps. This increased data rate can be useful when you begin working with your footage in post; higher bit rates tend to better reproduce picture detail. Since you are starting off with an 8-bit source, you'll also "do no harm" if you encode using a 10-bit codec like Apple ProRes 422. You will have a file that can be used in 10-bit capable post-production workflows natively. However, having said this, it is important to keep in mind that you didn't "magically" create 10-bit quantization from an 8-bit source.

Hope this is helpful information,
