View Full Version : Extension Cable for C300 grip
Paul Cronin October 18th, 2012, 11:08 AM I am looking for the extension cable for the C300 grip so I can locate it onto my Movcam handle. I know Zacuto sell one but you have to buy their other gear that I don't need.
Having searched on the Web I can't seem to find one.
Anyone know of other options?
Paul Cronin October 19th, 2012, 05:55 AM Found out Arri makes one but can not find who sells it.
Anyone have one?
Hand Grip Adapter HGA-1 for Canon C300 K2.66191.0
I have contacted Arri and Abel and hope to get an answer soon. Looks like a great addition to any shoulder rig for the C300.
Paul Cronin October 19th, 2012, 08:33 AM Found it with Abel.
Jon Roemer October 19th, 2012, 11:11 AM Curious about the price and availability on the Arri one. What did you find out?
Bob Willis October 19th, 2012, 11:24 AM I think that is a handgrip by Arri and not the cable.
Paul Cronin October 19th, 2012, 11:33 AM It is a cable and a handle holder for the stock handle. Price from Abel coming.
Bob Willis October 19th, 2012, 11:34 AM Very Interesting. I would be interested in any further information you find Paul.
Paul Cronin October 19th, 2012, 12:50 PM Arri got back to me and they will sell for $563 and 4 week wait. He said Abel could do better on time and price. I am waiting on Abel to get back to me.
I you put the line below in Google you will get a PDF that shows the item.
Hand Grip Adapter HGA-1 for Canon C300 K2.66191.0
Bob Willis October 19th, 2012, 03:27 PM Thanks Paul,
I have used the Arri Plate and Handgrips with the C300 and it is very well made.
Looks like the extender and cable for the C300 grip is well thought out.
Paul Cronin October 19th, 2012, 03:43 PM Agree it looks great but a 4 week wait will mean a no for me. Still have not heard back from Abel.
Syeed Ali October 21st, 2012, 07:50 AM Hope it's better than the Denz version.
Used it on friday and removed it a few hours later. The additional part that fixes on to the rails does not work well and effectively made it unusable.
Not well thought out at all.
Paul Cronin October 21st, 2012, 08:21 AM Thanks for the input Syeed,
I could not wait 4-6 weeks they told me it would take so I ordered the Zacuto one. Will fit this on my Movcam rig.
Also looking at getting the FocusPlus+ from Edelkrone for my focus on the left side. I think the two combined will be nice shoulder setup. Of course I will have some additional custom features. Once set up I will start a thread showing the full set up and why it is that way.
Paul Cronin October 23rd, 2012, 04:30 PM I have to say the Zacuto grip re-locator work very nice. Arrived today and used on a job tomorrow. So nice when shoulder mounted to have my hands lower.
Mathias Haecki October 25th, 2012, 12:58 AM Follow up to the Denz part:
We found the problem in the vocas basplate not fixing the 15mm rods securely enough. So actually the rod turned not the grip on the rod ;o)
So the Denz grip reloactor wasn't then problem in the end.
Hope it's better than the Denz version.

Yep, the Denz grip locator is fine. great bit of kit.
Just have to find a base plate that will hold the rods securely.
Paul Cronin October 28th, 2012, 09:29 AM Just back from a three day shoot with the C300 and the Zacuto Grip. Very nice having the hand in the proper positions. Worked perfect with my Movcam rig.
Joe Lawry June 25th, 2013, 12:29 AM Did anyone ever find a source for an extension cable for the grip? I just purchased the Shape grip relocater and the shape handles only to find it doesn't come with an extension cable.. frustrating.
Or does anyone know the pin layout so I can get the cable custom made?
otherwise i'll be returning both items to my dealer and having to buy Zacuto..
Paul Cronin June 25th, 2013, 05:12 AM Joe,
The only one I could find to buy was Zacuto. Works well and they replaced it with the updated cable with 90 degree plug at the camera since the straight one shorted out. Expensive but it works.
Joe Lawry June 25th, 2013, 05:11 PM Hey Paul cheers for that.
I am going to ask my dealer if they are able to get the cable specs from Canon.. see if we can make it ourselves.. Zacuto obviously can.
Paul Cronin June 26th, 2013, 05:24 AM Would be nice to build one and have it just right for 10th of the price. Good luck
Evan C. King July 30th, 2013, 02:31 PM Are you guys sure it's a special cable? I always assumed it was just a lanc connection which means you can use any old cheap lanc cable...
Jon Roemer July 30th, 2013, 08:26 PM According to B&H all that is needed is a 4 conductor miniphone cable.....

Paul Cronin July 31st, 2013, 06:03 AM Hi Jon,
Have you tried it with the cable?
I enjoyed the "Light Inside" on your site.
Jon Roemer July 31st, 2013, 12:56 PM Paul - Thanks on the video.
I haven't tried the cable myself. B&H has a series of Cinema EOS videos on Vimeo and it's mentioned by the host there: Canon Cinema EOS Line: Part 2 on Vimeo It's @ ~08:40 in. It's the first mention of the type of cable needed that I have heard.
I tend to use my C300 on sticks, monopod, or handheld so haven't had a need for the cable just yet.
Drew Curran August 1st, 2013, 02:36 AM Paul - Thanks on the video.

He mentions the cable from around 2.40. It sounds too simple... who's willing to give it a try?
Drew Curran August 2nd, 2013, 03:30 PM Vocas makes a extension cable for the Eos C range:

Edit: apologies, I've realised it's for their wooden grip.
