For some reason Vegas would not recognise the camera.
I used the base capture device in my sony computer, no problem (its the wife's standard DV footage). i opened Vegas and imported the first hour clip and it comes in fine but no audio. I play the clip in quick time and it has audio.

any ideas??

You need to figure out what audio codec is being used. Apparently you don't have a version of that codec installed that Vegas can use.

I will recapture it and not bother with the computers capture program in the future!!!
