So I rented the D800 because I am have been waiting for a camera like this to come around. Well before purchasing I decided to rent and get some good Nikkor glass as well. I picked up the 50mm, 85mm both 1.4g, and the 14-24mm 2.8g.

I compared the canon 7D in low light high ISO against the D800....you can guess what happened. I am definitely going to buy this camera, well worth the money! Enjoy!

What did you use for your exposure reference when setting each camera's exposure at each ISO setting, or were you using the same aperture/shutter combinations? There appears to be a difference in overall exposure between the two, the 7D a tad underexposed compared to the D800.

I used the exposure meter both cameras stayed at the same f stop. I started at the same f stop and just changed ISO. So if one is under exposed its due to lack of ISO gain. That's what I was illustrating.

nice comparison corey.I would love to get the 800 but its beyond my budget right now. I just got the 5200 and really like it so far. Im hoping to really push the 5200 to see what it can do. Seems nikon has stepped it up a notch as of lately.

Corey,

Nice comparison.

What picture settings did you use for the 7D and the D800?

Thanks.
