I see this in the spec for low light, what does it look like?

You get the grain/noise of the selected gain setting, but the "frame" is held 8x as long to gather light, so you get 8x the photons striking the sensor. This increases the low light capability, but any movement will smear the image. I find that using it to shoot wide angle settings with little or no movement, such as a city skyline, or a residential street, looks preferable to gaining up. For news use, I tend to only drop down to 1/15 sec shutter in an emergency, but 1/7.5 is good to go for static scenes.

With higher gain/noise settings, you will see a blocky noise pattern change every time the frame dumps to video....sort of like a slow motion effect. This is reduced the cleaner the image being taken is, ie less gain.
