Coming back to the Gods of sound, looking for some suggestions. I've been working with the NTG-3, and my good friend, the Sennheiser MKH416P48. I just had to have my 416 repaired, and figured it was a good time to maybe look into upgrading my gear. I've been working primarily on on feature films, so capturing vocal range is quite important to me. Often I run into situations where I need to capture several people standing next to each other, but I do some interviews as well that require focused audio capture. I use a SD702 for mixing, though I'm sure that doesn't make a lot of difference. Anyway, thought I'd check in and see what the next step up is. Thanks for your thoughts, per usual.

'Upgrade' to what? Both the 416 and 702 are top shelf gear, considering their inherent limitations. For instance, the 416 may not work so well for reflective interiors, and the 702 is limited to two inputs & two-tracks. If your a one-man-band, an experienced boom op could be hired for 'problematic' scenes. You could also buy/rent some wired or wireless lavs, but more channels would likely be needed.
Don't know what you mean by "mixing" on the 702.

I think you need a rode videomic and a zoom H4n as it seems to be what everyone else is using! ;0)

Seriously as Rick says you have some of the best kit out there so maybe time to get a proper video camera with xlr inputs and decent problem free workflow?
