Well, I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place for this posting but I am wanting to know what types of scaffolds or supports are available when shooting in a tight area. Is it something that I need to build or is it something that I can rent. This is being requested for one of my jobs. Also, what should I charge for something like this?

Look at Spiderpod. Its a pltform with a set area for a tripod and an area to stand. Not sure if thats what you're looking for.

Yes, this looks like it would work just fine. It's gonna be tough shelling out this much money for a 3 hour gig. I just need to rise up above the people in the audience.

Yep try Mitch at PSAV or Brian at AV1. I don't know the rate but it can't be too much.

As a pointof reference, in Flordia the going rate for a Spider Pod appears to be about $45 per day at AVRentalDepot's web page.

And again, for informal jobs onthe cheap there is always a step ladder, tripod, and some gaffers tape.

Then throw a piece of plywood on top. It's extremely stable as 9 points are in contact with the ground. The aluminum folds up into a bundle which you can carry in one hand!

The legs by themselves are called "risers." This is what I ordered. 32 inches high, 4x4ft square. Don't let those seemingly spindly legs deceive you. Weight capacity is more than 1,984 lbs. Look at the video of the car driving on the platform in the "product video" section, then notice how stable it is.

in crowder place, light platform are a joke.
Mount a platform in a crowded place and you will see poeple using it as chair, table, trying to mount on it etc...
better to to get a simple aluminium stool

and use some rapid rivet to mount a tube on it. then in the tube inserter some pole (monopod ?) with a video fluid head on top.
