Hope someone can help! I'm working on a project, footage was shot on an EX3. Person supplying the footage supplied .MOV files on a Mac formated disk (I'm PC based using Vegas). I've tried everything to open these files, the only program that works is VLC but I can't convert it from there. Any thoughts on workarounds or software solutions?

Do you have the XDCAM CODEC from Sony installed?

Sony | Micro Site XDCAM (http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/micro-xdcam/resource.downloads.bbsccms-assets-micro-xdcam-downloads-XDCAMSoftwareDownload.shtml#apps)

Les is right, it's undoubtedly a codec problem. If the quicktime files were output with the quicktime hdv codec, it is not present in the pc version of quicktime. You might run the files thru gspot or mediainfo (both of these are freeware file analyzers) and see. If it is the hdv codec or if it is the xd codec and the version from Sony doesn't work try this: Calibrated{Q} XD Decode Overview (http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/qxd.asp)

There is a free download to test, although it puts a watermark on the image. The unwatermarked version is not exactly cheap --- I think I paid $149 recently -- but it works a treat.
