Hello.

I have just started looking into practicing doing some multiclip editing. I have two cameras: Nikon D800 and Canon HV30 HDV.

I'll be shooting 30fps with both. I heard an online tutorial that the format of both clips must match in order for multiclip to do it's thing.

Any suggestions?

When in doubt, ProRes is ALWAYS your friend.

In FCP7 multi cam you have to transcode to ProRes even if the specs of the clips in terms of frame rate and resolution are the same. As long as the file codecs are different you have to convert. In FCPX multi cam you don't have to worry about codecs or resolution and possibly frame rates although it can be a little clumsy on slower computers.

Thanks for that. I always transcode all my video to prores 422 before edit. Good to know once converted all should be good. Now on to testing......
