Last week I spotted my first Endangered Species. I understand that the Sanderling (Calidris alba) is now classified as a endangered species on the coastal beaches of California, Oregon, and Washington. I spotted this little guy running with a bunch of Black Turnstones and Lesser Sandpipers. This is the first Sanderling that I have ever seen. I understand that the Sanderling inhabits the grassy sand dunes of the West Coast, and then migrates north to the Tundra to mate, and rear their young.
