View Full Version : Equipment Cart / Dolly

Over the years my equipment has changed dramatically, but I’m still using the same Magliner Gemini Jr. Hand Truck, which I bought in the 80s.

By sitting on an apple box with a CineSaddle on my knees, the cart has also doubled as a dolly on small shoots.

This year, I’ve been working on an idea for a new cart.
It’s collapsable, with 2 shelves, soft rubber tires, wheel locks, fits in my minivan and large enough to carry all my gear.

But before starting the build, I was wondering what others are using?
What features would you like to have in a cart?

Thanks,
Bill

Most people around here use the rocknroller/multicarts. Relatively low cost, can hold a lot, can fit in just about any vehicle. They have quality control issues, however.

I would say i wish my cart had hooks or something in the sides, when the shelf system is attached, to carry more things like c stands. Also wish it had a solid "floor" (i know you can buy the add on but still) cause certain things are just not shaped right to ride on the bottom with nothing but the cart underneath.

I’m going to try to interest an equipment company in my design.
If it's rejected, I'll post the idea… it could become an ‘open 'source’ DYI project.

In my case it would become a PSOETDIFM project---pay someone else to do it for me.
