Each time I click on the help menu in Vegas 12 (build 770) and enter a team to search, the help screen freezes up then crashes Vegas -- ends the program. Tried three times.
Any ideas other than maybe a re-install?

None. I had this start in VP9 and had to resort to making a shortcut on the DESKTOP pointing to the HLP file.
SONY didn't respond with a fix.
It is working in VP12 and in 64bit VP11.

Could you provide the name of the help file?
I'm using the 64-bit version.

It's vegas120.chm in Program Files (x86) > Sony > Shared Plug-ins > Help Files.
Maybe not any help in this case, but you could read this document in the SCS KB

It is working in VP12 and in 64bit VP11.
Not for everyone. For example, see this thread in the Vegas forums: Sony Creative Software - Forums - Vegas Pro - Video Messages (http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=875769). If it's happening to you, the workaround is to not launch help in Vegas.
